Q: Are scholarships available?
Answer:
     Yes, scholarships are available for partial conference registration. For information about the scholarship program, please contact the Conference Coordinator

Q. Do you have a roommate option to defray hotel expenses?
Answer:
     Yes, for those single individuals who would like to find a roommate, please contact us and we will let you know how to proceed.

Q: What is included in the conference fee?
Answer:
    All conference programming will take place from Thursday, March 22, 2018 to end of programming Saturday, March 24. Programming will begin with breakfast at 8:00am each morning.
    You are also invited (no extra charge) to a reception for speakers and attendees on Wednesday evening before the beginning of the conference, 6:30pm. Appetizers and one drink ticket will be furnished to all attendees. There will also be a cash bar.      
    Daily food included: Breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Breaks and lunch are included on Thursday-Saturday. 
     All attendees are invited to participate in the Envisioning the Future Action Workshops on Sunday morning. Breakfast will be furnished to all attendees on Sunday morning. Hotel reservations must be made separately. 
     Celebration Dinner and other limited space programs may be offered that will be charged separately. Please be sure to pay for the Friday Celebration Dinner separately at the time you register for the conference.

Q: What about restaurants and grocery stores?
Answer:
     An on-property restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch (both are included, however, in conference registration) and dinner. A small grocery story is just off-property within steps of the formal garden toward the lake.

Q: How do I get into Las Vegas for events in the city?
Answer:
     There is a shuttle three times a day into town and three times a day back, pick-up and drop-off at The Tropicana Casino. The trip into town is about 20-30 minutes. It is very easy to get into Las Vegas by car.

Q: How do I get tickets for special events?
Answer:
     The hotel concierge can help you find special events and obtain tickets for most events in the city.

Q: What time does the conference begin and end?
Answer:
    The conference programming begins at 8:00am on Thursday morning with breakfast.
    A reception for speakers and attendees will take place at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Light hors d'oeuvres, and an opening program with Shanaaz Gokool, CEO of Dying with Dignity Canada, will be the keynote speaker that evening. 
     Programs end each day at 5:00 with the exception of Saturday. On Saturday, programming ends at 4:30pm on Saturday, March 24. 
     On Sunday, March 25, however, small groups will convene to work on an action plan for the future. Sunday’s small groups will end at noon.

Sunday small group Future Action planning:
     There is no cost to join the action groups, but you will need to sign up for these groups as each moderator will be working with a limited number of attendees. Workshops will begin at 9:00 Saturday and will end at noon. Breakfast will be available.

Q: What is the conference registration and hotel cancellation policy?
Answer:
     The hotel will refund reservations cancelled up to 48 hours in advance. However, the hotel room block must be fulfilled and the hosting organization will have cancellations counted against the total and will be responsible for filling the room block. So, please do not register for the hotel if you are not sure that you will attend.
     Hotel rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you plan to come, it is best to register for your hotel room as early as possible.
     Conference registration can be cancelled through February 1, 2018. Upon cancellation, your registration payment will be refunded within 30 days, less a $50 administrative fee. Conference registration fees cannot be refunded after March 1, 2018.

Q: When does conference registration end?
Answer:  Early registration rates ended January 14;  You may register up to two weeks before the conference, but on site registration is not planned at this time.

Q: What will conference rates be once the early registration ends?
Answer: Only "Full Registration" rates will be available with no discounts for individuals or couples. See registration rates above.

Q: What is the hotel rate after the early bird conference cut-off date, January 14?
Answer: Early discount rates must be reserved by January 14: $109 per night, plus $10 daily resort fee, plus applicable taxes. Suites will cost more. 
The room block will be open until February 15, at which time, the room block will be closed for conference attendees. $159+ per night, plus $25 daily resort fee, plus applicable taxes. Suites will cost more. 

Q: Does the hotel provide transportation to and from the Las Vegas airport?
Answer: No, however, several convenient options are available, such as Yellow Cab, Uber, and Lyft.

Q: Is there a vegetarian option for Friday’s “Celebration Dinner”? 
Answer. Yes. We will do our best to meet any attendee's dietary requirements. Before the event, registrants will be contacted to choose dietary options.

Q: Will there be food and drinks at the opening reception?
Answer: Before the reception, registrants will receive one (1) drink ticket. Additionally, there will be a cash bar.

Taimie Bryant, JD, PhD
     Professor Taimie Bryant earned a doctorate in anthropology from UCLA and currently is a Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law. She is an advocate for animal rights and is also a strong proponent of not-for-profit organizations. From the syllabus describing one of her courses - “The nonprofit sector... furthers the goals of a participatory democracy through unpaid volunteer opportunities designed to bring people together for recreation, service to others, and moving previously controversial ideas into the mainstream
of society.”
Licensed Health Care professionals will receive the discounted registration rate of $220 per person.
